Wow, I found Carl’s insights amazing. I agree, that age should have nothing to do with success. But, he definitely is several steps up in sophistication from my neighbor’s child who is blogging about her hamster. I have a theory that younger people have an easier time of making a success on the internet.

Of course, this assumes a certain maturity level (not to be confused with their age). These younger bloggers have grown up with computers and the internet. They don’t suffer from technophobia( as Carl put it, these are cool things to do), and they are still firmly entrenched in the *learning mode*. Most adults, especially young adults just out of school can’t wait to put all memories of learning behind them. I know plenty of adults who haven’t cracked open a serious book book in years. Anyway, for these two reasons the steps in starting up and building a blog aren’t an obstacle to them.

Speaking of obstacles, finding a niche that appeals to you and will also make you money is a process, and it takes time. Don’t worry, if it takes you a week or two, that will be a good thing in the long run. It may not seem like it, but the time is well spent.

Why? Because, as you research your niches, you’re going to find more than one from your interest list that looks profitable. Make sure you hang on to all your research… even for niches that don’t come up too favorable. You never know when the buzz may strike it. The niche could take off in the news and public interest. You’ve already invested your time, and if you don’t make an effort to keep track of what you’ve done, the everyday tasks of building your blog will drive the memory right out of your head. Your work will be forgotten in the flood of other things to do.

Why on earth would you want another niche? That’s simple, once you get your first blog up and running. Once it’s making you an acceptable profit, and you’re satisfied with the way things are going with it, you will want to start up another niche blog. Possibly, one of those you researched when you first started. This is how you build your monthly income up. Build a blog, get it profitable then add another, possibly doubling your monthly profits. This is the basic strategy that probloggers have followed to reach their million dollar a year incomes.
