You’re certainly right about that….blogging is way easier than being a receptionist. I was the one office girl for a doctor… wish I knew then– what I know now… but don’t we all??
You might wonder, Could I start a blog ?? Anyone…young or old… university students, 9 to 5 ers, or retirees can. Everyone has at least one subject that–given a chance—they will talk your ear off about.
Even you…
In fact, some of you reading this may be blogging and not even know it. Say what? Well, if you have a myspace or a facebook page…you have a very basic form of a blog…Those pages just have a lot more pictures and doodads that make the platform appear different.
Anyway, exciting times around my house right now. Not only do we have a new blog, but my daughter is home on her first spring break–freshman in college. Believe it or not…. now that Mom is making money blogging, she wants a piece of the action. What college kid doesn’t need spending money? She’s an old hand at myspace and facebook, but will learn from the beginning to set up a blog and all the steps involved. I’ll be sharing her progress from time to time with you all. Tonight, probably about 1 am, when she comes home from going to a jazz concert, we’re going to talk about niches. I told her to think about it while she was gone.
Be sure to check back…there will be funny stories…there always are.

1Blogs are very easy to start and very worthwhile to set up on your own server, which you can do yourself for about $20. Setting up your own blog instead of using a free one at wordpress or blogger or somewhere else allows you to use all the various toys like affiliate links and and bookmark buttons.
The main thing is posting daily. I wrote a blog for the college where I work, and we have moved form 68 visitors the first month to over 1500 last month, just from posting every day. So, the hardest thing is to make sure you are creating content every day.

2Hello Charlotte,
Thank you for your comment.
I agree wholeheartedly that having a plan for posting your content daily goes a very long way towards ensuring your success with your blog. It is amazing how fast your readership grows isn’t it? Exciting too!!
We do recommend that bloggers get their own domain–not only for the purpose of earning money and having the *toys*. The free sites have come up with various forms of *slaps* in the past. What a nightmare it would be to suddenly find yourself outside of their new guidelines…and have all your hard work and readers disappear overnight. I think that almost anyone would agree, the $20 investment doesn’t even compare to the alternative in this case.
