Hi Jack!

Thanks for stopping by here as well.

I like your interpretation of the post. It is so very true that many people who start in this business go in with guns a blazing and end up just coming out all worn and torn.

I myself suffered many bumps and bruises when first starting out as well. It is a tough lesson to have to understand for some. But I definately agree... start with something managable and then move on if need be. As we often find out, that even with a few websites or blogs, once they become popular, then time really becomes a factor as well.

I have to admit I was a little nervous posting this as it really goes against many of the big guru's beliefs that "more is better". Glad to see I am in such great company and appreciate all the comments left here!

I can't even fathom what trying to manage 15 blogs would be like. One is all I can handle. With that, plus my web site, this is a fist full.

What's the purpose of overdong it with 15 blogs anyway? Is it reflective of Dilbert's Law: Like an auditor, you arrive after the battle and bayonet all the wounded?

Thanks, you gals, for visiting my blog, and thanks to Blolglady, Dee, for leaving a comment.

One is enough! Yes for starters and newbies, one is definitely enough. I started my blog on the 6th of March 2008 and I work fulltime. My bckground is not in any writing-related profession so it is a learning curve for me in terms of creating content. Optimization and traffic are all tasks one has to perform to get into the bloggosphere as a relevant entity. I believe having a 'flagship blog' first and then feeding the subsequent ones will be wonderful for growth and monetization. Also I started with a free hosted blog as my flagship to test the waters before more serious financial and time commitments. So far, I have had under 1000 hits, and I am avoiding unethical web behaviour 'cos these things could hunt you. I agree with your advice. 15 is way too much to start off with.

Hey James!

Same thing here! I started with about 5 blogs in 5 different niches... had NOOO clue what I was doing! Never even heard of a plug in.. but did start off with wordpress... back when it was like JUST wordpress 0... lol

After about 6 months of going crazy and making like 13 cents a day from adsense.. I quit 3 of the blogs... just said forget it! I almost quit them all.

Within about 2 weeks one of the blogs I regularly updated started to make .25 cents a day.. then a dollar.. then a few more weeks about 3 dollars a day! The more I concentrated on that ONE blog and the more I figured out what worked and what didn't the more I made financially and the more I gained in knowledge.

But we all have to start somewhere.. basically I lost 4 and won 1.. but it was a lesson to learn and mistake that could have been avoided, because just like anything.. there is a learning curve involved.

Everything takes time, a little patience, and some study, but it can be done. Learn the basics first.. get it done right first.. and then go charging in.

Thanks so much for sharing James!

I would definitely agree. Starting 15 blogs without the experience of earning from even one blog is probably a bad move.

The variables that make for a profitable blog only become more apparent when you have too much on the go. Then frustration and disappointment sets in and another potential money making blogger gives it up as just a bunch of hype.

I started my online career with static websites and earned a bit but when I turned to hobby blogging I started to see my income increase, one month at a time.

I didn't start with just one blog, I had about a dozen and was quickly overwhelmed with trying to get them optimized. If I had started with just one I would have had it optimized in a month or so but it took me long because I had so much to do.

Now that I have gone through the initial growing and learning I am no longer overwhelmed but I would certainly advise others that are just starting to go with one blog and do that one correctly.

Your next blog will seem so much easier to earn with.
