Blogging is a numbers game.Whether you want to monetize your blog or not, you’re still competing against millions of other blogs to attract the attention of readers.
We have covered keyword competitiveness and competing with your own domain name. Now, we can discuss some ways for you to attract attention within your niche.
Instead of using the word competitive, we could substitute the word unique. What makes your blog unique among all the others in your chosen subject? We will assume that you have your own writing style and *voice*. However, there is another strategy you can use to tip the scales even more in your favor.
I call it snoop the competion. Search for other blogs in your niche….. go to Alexa.com and find blogs on your subject that enjoy low page rank. Ideally, you’re looking for the bottom 100,000, but you may have to settle for below a million.
Read their blogs…see what they are doing…take note of the keywords they are using. This isn’t so much to steal their strategies as to look for holes in them. What aren’t they doing? Can you find something you could address in your content or presentation that makes your blog unique?
Your *voice* makes you unique, but adding your own special twist to your content greatly increases your chances of attracting attention to your blog. Once you get the visitors there, the two combined will keep them coming back for more and turn them into loyal readers.
