Posted by Blog Lady Dee as Ways To Monetize
Do you realize your high quality content plays a very important role in the ways to monetize your blog? We are going to expand on our discussion about product creation. There are several points you may not have considered.
A few weeks ago, Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the internet, said: even at 15 years old, the internet is in its infancy. More and more people are discovering the internet every day. In fact, newspapers and television are steadily losing their audience to the internet. As the number of users grows, so do the opportunities.
Information grows exponentially on the internet. Think of how fast the number of your blog pages grows with daily posts. All those people discovering the internet are faced with the sheer enormity of information available to them. Information overload is a real fact of life on the web.
Google is forever or pretty darn close. A novice to the web has a hard time sorting out whether older information is still useful or not. Let’s be honest…there’s plenty of new information on the net that is just plain garbage too.
People are so busy that information overload is something they want to avoid. Today, many are wanting instant gratification. When they are searching for information, they want it now . Imagine you are at the end of the search string with your content rich blog establishing yourself as an authority and with a product that matches their search. Don’t you think, they are very likely to buy it? Searchers like it when you do the work for them.
Your content brings them to your blog from the search engines. It establishes you as someone who knows what he/she is talking about. Your reader trusts the quality of your information, and this bleeds over into believing that your product will be as good or better.
Even if you don’t think you’re an expert, there is so much information available on the net now; you can become one in 3 months if you’ve got the motivation—All you have to do is find that information, craft it into a product, and offer it to the people who have a problem and don’t want to do the research themselves. You have a burgeoning audience and a hungry market.

1I am doing this exact thing, as we speak. I’m gathering information on a subject that I am actually trying out, and I’m going to leverage the information I can research plus my own experience into something that I can monetize. My ultimate goal is to create 5 sites that are making about $1000/mo each. that would allow me to quit my day job and really focus, and grow from there.
Thus why I am so interested in your Niche ideas! :)

2Hi Metroknow,
You are following our model…you have one successful blog and now it is time to expand. We know this works, we’ve seen many people do it and are following it ourselves. The reason we provide the niche ideas is to open up the possibilities and opportunities out there. Every one of the niches I’ve researched so far has had at least two–often many more– subniches that could be turned into a financially viable branch of a business.
Keep us posted on your progress, and feel free to ask any questions you may have. Good luck with your new venture! :)

3I have to say you guys are one of my chief inspirations for this idea of expansion. I’ve added you to my blogroll btw, as trivial a reciprocation as that might be ;), but I hope to send more folks your way. I also need to get better at using the social bookmark tools on YOUR content. I get so involved in the material that I forget to share! Not unlike my 3-year-old…hmm…. :)
Thanks again - can’t wait for the next post.
P.S. — Any recommendations on plugins for social bookmarking, like the ones you have? I know a lot of bloggers use the “Share” plugin, but I have found that non-bloggers really don’t know what that button is for. In fact a good friend of mine didn’t understand how to even subscribe via email - something I felt was obvious. . .thoughts?

4Hi :)
Thanks for the awesome words and we very much appreciate that you enjoy coming here!!
The 2 social bookmarking tools we use are:
http://www.addthis.com/
– you can download it here: http://blog.addthis.com/?p=24
and the one we use on this blog:
http://www.dountsis.com/downloads?cat=2 (Its the social bookmarks 4.0)
They are both pretty easy to use and simple looking. Share is good too, but yes unless you know what it is, most won’t click on it.. but it is simple looking. Sometimes simple is just too complex as well… kinda ironic I know. Like a simple opt in box for subscribing via email. Sometimes you need flashing arrows to get people to see it. Most people these days totally ignore what they are not looking for.. so just give them a reason to sign up.

5Hi Metroknow,
Well that’s very flattering. Thank you :))
We really do not get that many people using the buttons. I think it has to become a habit to use them.

6Let’s not forget, that it doesn’t always have to be content in the form of a written article or blog post. On my blog I focus on wordpress themes and templates for flash and nearly every major CMS. The content which brings in the most visitors for me are my free self designed and programed Wordpress Themes ;)

7Hi Felix,
Point taken…In this case, your content is your product. Great situation to be in if you can pull it off. :)

8Felix brings up a good point — can you guys provide examples of blogs that are making use of keywords like these? I mean, I guess the ultimate question is how are people using this information in real life to monetize a site? My brain immediately goes to affiliate/drop ship type retail opportunities, but I think that is more than I can realistically accomplish with the limited time I have. Any examples?

9Oh, and P.S. — Felix - I checked your site out, and I’m really interested in some of the themes you’ve got going. Do you by chance have an English language version of the site? I know its a long shot, but just thought I’d ask.
